The Hungarian or Magyar Vizsla are sporting dogs and loyal companions, in addition to being the smallest of the all-round pointer-retriever breeds. The Vizsla is a natural hunter endowed with an excellent nose and an outstanding trainability. Although they are lively, gentle mannered, demonstrably affectionate and sensitive, they are also fearless and possessed of a well-developed protective instinct.

The Hokkaido dog is medium sized, and has small, triangular, upright ears. Its eyes are small and have a rising triangular outline. This dog has a coat of long, stiff fur, and a second, shorter coat of soft fur. The Hokkaido dog's coat colors include red, white, black, sesame, tiger, and wolf-gray. The breed is very faithful to its master or owner, bravery, and the ability to withstand the cold, among other traits. It has an innate sense of direction and can therefore return to its master no matter how great the distance.

Weimaraner has a short, smooth grey coat and its usually amber/blue eyes give it a regal appearance different from any other breed. There is a long-haired variety that is not as commonly known. The color is rare in dogs and is the result of breeding for a recessive gene. It has also lent the breed the nickname 'silver ghost' or 'gray ghost'. The coat is extremely low maintenance; it is short and smooth to the touch.

Typically, the male Weimaraner stands between 25 and 27 inches (63-68 cm) at the withers. Bitches are generally between 23 and 25 inches (58-63 cm). The breed is not heavy for its height, and weighs upwards of 70 pounds (32 kg). Traditionally, the Weimaraner's tail is docked at birth to a third of its natural length.

Some Bassets are also classified as grey, or blue, however this color is considered rare and undesirable
